Slash has offered one of the most encouraging updates yet on the possibility of new Guns N’ Roses music.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on the Rolling Stone Uncut podcast, the guitarist confirmed that the band recently spent time in the studio and insisted that new material will eventually arrive. However, he stopped short of announcing a release date, explaining that he would be lying if he tried to predict exactly when it will happen.

Slash compared the current situation to the period before Use Your Illusion I and II. According to him, Guns N’ Roses can spend a long time without anything appearing to move forward, only for the band to suddenly lock in and complete everything very quickly.

The guitarist also reflected on his reconciliation with Axl Rose, revealing that getting the band back together was not originally the goal. Axl first contacted him through management simply to repair their relationship after years of hostility. The two met for dinner, resolved their differences and allowed the reunion to develop naturally from there.

Slash suggested that outside interference had made their original disagreements worse than they needed to be. Since reconnecting, he says he and Axl have not had a single major fight during the ten years of the reunited Guns N’ Roses era.

The interview also covered Slash’s upcoming work with Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators, as well as the emotional final Ozzy Osbourne concert in Birmingham. Slash revealed that he introduced Axl and Ozzy backstage for the first time, with both singers apparently being longtime admirers of each other.

No title, tracklist or release window has been announced for the next Guns N’ Roses project, but Slash’s comments confirm that progress is being made.
