A Shocking Message: Following Kevin Thelwell’s most recent admission, five key Everton players may never……

Following Kevin Thelwell’s latest admission, five key Everton players may never return to Goodison Park.

On Friday, Kevin Thelwell issued a statement providing an update on Everton’s future intentions and developments.

The latter has undoubtedly been positive, with the Toffees navigating relegation this season rather easily compared to previous years.

Sean Dyche deserves a lot of credit for it, but so does the team put together by the Director of Football’s astute operations.

However, in this letter, sent to keep Evertonians informed, he revealed the harsh reality of their condition ahead of a busy summer of reconstruction.

‘Players will be sold,’ he promised, before emphasizing that they were doing everything in their ability to acquire replacement talent at a low cost.

However, companies do have another option for recouping monies, as many contracts expire this summer.

Everton players whose contracts are expiring

Everton’s payroll bill has been drastically reduced since Thelwell’s hiring early in 2022, but it is still insufficient.

There are far too many high-paid players who are underperforming on the field, but fortunately, the most of them are set to retire in the coming years.

Andre Gomes, who has been with the club for six years, including his initial loan term, appears to be on the verge of leaving.

However, sitting on a £112k-per-week wedge is unsustainable, and his recent post to X appeared to be a farewell.

Ashley Young, Seamus Coleman, and Idrissa Gana Gueye also have expiring contracts, but new deals are likely for all of them.

Despite being a crucial role for Dyche’s team, Jack Harrison exits after starting 25 league games this season.

Although Leeds United may not be anxious to have him back, the Toffees may not have the funds to sign him on a second loan.

Many players bid Goodison Park farewell against Sheffield United.

Unbeknownst to us, a slew of stars will most likely say their goodbyes to the home audience on Saturday.

Some will have already planned their departure, while others may leave due to circumstances beyond their control. Given the club’s terrible financial situation, some may be forced to leave if the money is sufficient.

Already, stories have emerged detailing the players of interest, with Jarrad Branthwaite, Amadou Onana, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin unsurprisingly topping the list.

The former two are the club’s most valuable assets, as they are young stars who are already performing well in the Premier League.

If the money is good enough, Everton will be hard pressed to say no.

The latter has only one year left on his £100k-per-week contract, and it’s fair to argue that the club can’t afford to pay him more.

If he re-signs, it would almost certainly be on less favorable terms, so it now rests on whether he wants to go, how desperate he is to move, and whether he is prepared to prioritize a better future for his career over his allegiance to the club.

Regardless, all three might be sold this summer to provide the club a much-needed cash boost, and when combined with the aforementioned trio, this would represent a massive yet emotional clear-out.
