Before the NFL season starts this autumn, the Dallas Cowboys’ third-string quarterback Trey Lance may be traded. He may be able to secure a backup position over Cooper Rush, but his time will probably come to an end after the 2024 campaign. There are concerns regarding Lance’s NFL future because the Cowboys reportedly plan to reject his fifth-year option, which would have earned him $22.4 million for the 2025 campaign. The North Dakota State product was originally obtained by Dallas from the San Francisco 49ers in return for a 2024 fourth-round selection pick. Dallas would want something in exchange for this transaction to take place. Dak Prescott and Rush, however, are in the last year of their contracts with the Cowboys. While searching for a backup, the top goal should be offering Prescott a long-term contract.

Since the Cowboys haven’t tried to extend their starting quarterback, there has been conjecture that they might also trade him. Both parties are still optimistic that an agreement will be reached, nevertheless. Lance’s short career on the field has shown glimpses of him being a productive quarterback.

Along with 235 rushing yards and a touchdown, he finished with 797 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions. Lance will probably get more playing time this preseason thanks to the Cowboys. The Ravens might be a good fit as well, as they lack a trustworthy backup for Lamar Jackson. They would have Lance to step in if necessary, but they can’t afford to lose their star franchise player.
