The fight to stay in the Premier League is almost over, and Nottingham Forest has three games remaining to protect their standing.
It remains exceedingly tight at the lower end of the table. Nuno Espirito Santo’s team sit just over the dotted line but know Luton Town and Burnley will have their eyes on cutting the gap.
On Saturday, the Reds play a pivotal match against Sheffield United, who have already been demoted. They then face a visit from Chelsea and a critical game with the Clarets at Turf Moor to see out the campaign.
But whichever division Forest find themselves in next term, it will be a critical summer at the City Ground. Once the transfer window opens, expected arrivals and departures will be noted.
The team will also need to decide what to do with players whose contracts are about to expire and a number of players whose loans are about to expire. For some, the next few weeks could be a case of waving goodbye to the Reds. Below, we take a look at the players whose contract are set to run out this summer.
Who should Forest offer new deals to? Comment below with your thoughts.
Hennessey Wayne
Wayne Hennessey, who was signed in the summer of 2022, has only made nine club appearances and hasn’t played this season. There will need to be a reevaluation of the situation in the summer because Forest now has four senior goalkeepers on their roster: Matz Sels, Matt Turner, and Odysseas Vlachodimos, all of whom have longer contracts.
Willy Boly
Should the Reds have needed any more proof of Willy Boly’s significance, it was provided last weekend when they played Manchester City. After recovering from his injury, the defender made a difference, and Nuno will be hopeful he’s well enough to play in the last three games. Despite his age of thirty-three, the club would be sensible to provide him a new deal.
Felipe
It is quite possible that Felipe has already put on the Garibaldi for good. It will be difficult for him to gain minutes in the remaining games because he has already declared his desire to retire at the end of the current campaign. However, we won’t forget the Brazilian’s participation to the survival mission from last term.

Ola Aina
Arriving as a free agent last summer, Ola Aina has proven to be a great addition. The club will look back on him as a wise commercial decision. Future options were part of his deal, and it’s likely that a new one is in the works. It’s unclear, though, how Forest’s chances of surviving would impact that.
