The extent of Ederson’s shoulder injury has been reported in conflicting ways.
Regarding Ederson’s availability for Manchester City this weekend, there have been conflicting claims. The 30-year-old was substituted at the half of Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest due to a shoulder injury, and he was seen leaving the City Ground with a sling. Pep Guardiola added that the injury “doesn’t look good,” raising doubts about Ederson’s fitness for the season’s closing stages.
In the Friday press conference, the City manager is probably going to provide an update before this weekend’s Premier League matchup with Wolverhampton Wanderers. According to a post made on X by Brazilian writer Fred Caldeira, Ederson will be returning to training soon.
About Ederson’s physical problem, the reporter stated, “The goalie will resume training in the coming days as the tests do not reveal an injury.”
The prognosis, according to the Manchester Evening News, is not nearly as good, and Ederson is unlikely to play against Wolves on Saturday. However, he might play against Fulham the following week. The outlet stated that Stefan Ortega is probably going to play this weekend. “Further checks on Ederson’s shoulder have revealed that the injury isn’t as significant as it first looked, however, and it is hoped he will be fit enough to return before the end of the season,” the outlet stated.
Due to three consecutive Ederson injuries, the German goalie has made 17 appearances this season, seven of which have been in the Premier League. Since the beginning of the year, three games—against Newcastle United, Liverpool, and Forest—have seen the replacement of City’s no. 31.
