Caitlin Clark and Victor Wembanyama's stats in rookie debuts scare fans | Marca

Following their triumph over the Americans on Saturday night and before they left for Paris with the WNBA All-Stars, Caitlin Clark addressed her exclusion from the US Olympic team.

The Olympic roster practice before the games later this month included the standout rookie, Angel Reese, and Arike Ogunbowale leading the WNBA All-Stars squad to a 117-109 victory over Team USA.

WNBA fans and commentators were incensed by Clark’s rejection by coach Cheryl Reeve’s Olympic squad.

After defeating the players who were selected to travel to France instead of her, the 2024 No. 1 draft pick was questioned about whether the outcome gave her a sense of vindication.

After the match at the Footprint Center in Phoenix on Saturday, the Indiana Fever star answered simply when asked, “No.”

They are excellent. That team is full of talented players. I believe Team WNBA defeated Team USA four years ago, and they performed admirably in the Olympics.

In response to the All-Star game, WNBA fans tweet, “Maybe we sent the wrong team. 2.4k viewing now.” If anything, it goes to demonstrate how excellent this league is. It demonstrates the caliber of skill in this league and the necessity of preparation and consistency each and every night. Many players who aren’t even here tonight might be here as well. It merely demonstrates our talent level.

Clark assured everyone that she would be rooting for the Stars and Stripes throughout the games, showing no traces of resentment at her exclusion.

Regarding the All-Star Games, she continued, “From my perspective, this is a terrific opportunity to help prepare them for Paris.”

“I will be rooting for them and encouraging them.” I adore the Olympic Games. I’ve been a huge fan of the Olympics since I was a young child. They will be perfectly alright. They’re going to rule and take home the gold.

The committee for USA Olympic Basketball chose WNBA veterans over the highly talented rookie.

Call-ups included Napheesa Collier, Kahleah Copper, Chelsea Gray, Brittney Griner, Sabrina Ionescu, Jewell Loyd, Kelsey Plum, Breanna Stewart, Diana Taurasi, Alyssa Thomas, A’ja Wilson, and Jackie Young.

Clark took her exclusion with grace and understanding, but other analysts on social media took offense at the slight.

Head of Barstool Sports Dave Portnoy said in a furious X video rant: “This is about Caitlin Clark not making the Olympic team… how stupid are these women?”

I’m not sure if the Women’s Olympic Committee or someone else is making the choice. I don’t care if you don’t think Caitlin Clark, despite her impressive 37 points at 13 points per game, is a talented player who belongs on this squad. This is the most points a rookie in league history.

It all doesn’t matter. These ladies, and I’m a pro-women guy because I adore women, whine and weep about things like equal rights and pay, etc. For the first time in basketball history, you have, possibly, the most popular player in the world, right here, dummies.

One may contend that Caitlin Clark is the world’s most well-liked, electrifying single basketball player. You may contest that. And you don’t include her on the Olympic squad?

It’s a showcase for the sport, the other WNBA players on this team, and not just for her. How stupid, how devoid of thought, how foolish must the individuals in charge of this be? With her, things keep getting worse.

Jason Whitlock also responded angrily, accusing in a series of irate social media posts “BLM-LGBTQIA+Silent P Alphabet Mafia bigots.”

Whitlock originally wrote, “Am I the only one delighted they left Caitlin Clark off the Olympic team?” expressing his satisfaction that Clark would not be competing in the forthcoming Games. I can stop watching these arrogant, irate females who despise America play hoops.

Whitlock quickly abandoned his patriotism, though, when he penned, “They/Thems Hate Cait.” Story ends here.Following their triumph over the Americans on Saturday night and before they left for Paris with the WNBA All-Stars, Caitlin Clark addressed her exclusion from the US Olympic team.
