Numerous narratives around the 2024 NFL Draft have dominated the weekend. However, the Chicago Bears ought to continue to be the draft’s talk team.

They are the side that gets to claim Caleb Williams as their own, after all.

No other quarterback has ever brought as much expectation and excitement to Chicago as the USC quarterback selected with the first overall choice. Rome Odunze, a wide receiver selected in the first round, is also a rookie who is with him.

These two guys were seen together before the draft, giving the impression that they had a solid friendship. They are now able to play together.

Following the first round, Williams was asked by NFL Network’s Stacey Dales what he said to Odunze upon learning that the two would be playing together.

“When I finally was able to see him after he was picked, I dapped him up and said congrats, but I also said, it’s like D-Wade and LeBron when they were with the Heat,” Williams responded.

Although Caleb Williams made an incorrect NBA comparison, he did get one thing right.

Williams had the chance to draw a connection between Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen, but the rookie quarterback passed it up. After all, he is performing in Chicago.

Man, get over it. You missed the opportunity.

Well, anything. Williams, the number one overall pick, didn’t let Dales down when he was asked what kind of product the Bears offense will be putting on display in 2024.

“There are eleven of us having fun and we’re efficient and explosive,” Williams answered.

A potent and effective offensive? In Chicago? What type of world do we really live in? There are no limits to the excitement and expectation Williams is creating.

Still, don’t overlook Odunze.

Here, we’re forming our own pair. I can’t wait for it,” Odunze said to Dales.

It is beyond a doubt. At least when it comes to paper, the Bears offense appears to be explosive and effective.

Although there have been enthusiastic Bears supporters in the past, this feels a little different. It’s only April, yet already the expectations are extraordinary. With Williams, Odunze, and the other offensive talents on the Bears, this bunch has the potential to be unlike any we’ve seen in Chicago football history for over a century.
