Rebilas/USA TODAY Sports Chris Paul has recently been connected to both Los Angeles NBA franchises, but one team may be more interested than the other. Paul has one year remaining on his deal with the Golden State Warriors. His full $30 million pay for the 2024-25 season is not guaranteed. The Warriors have until June 28 to decide whether to retain the 12-time All-Star.
If Paul hits the free agency market, both the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers are allegedly interested in signing him. Despite Paul’s closeness with LeBron James, NBA analyst Marc Stein reported on Sunday that the Lakers’ interest in him isn’t “unanimous”. Paul has been linked to James when the two were spotted sitting together on a banana boat in 2015. However, James may not be as eager to form alliances with his pals as he was in his youth.
According to reports, the Warriors could keep Paul with the idea of dealing him later. Paul is starting his 39th season and coming off his least productive season yet. However, Paul continued to provide value off the Warriors’ bench. He averaged 9.2 points while shooting 44.1% from the field, with 6.8 assists and 1.2 steals.
