The three referee rulings that went against Nottingham Forest, according to Mark Clattenburg, were “a joke,” because the PGMOL was able to prevent such a catastrophe.
The City Ground team was defeated 2-0 at Goodison Park by Everton in a relegation battle. They are now perilously positioned, one spot above the bottom three. The forest was incensed as it
Several of those appeared to be stonewall penalties, such as Ashley Young’s handball that went uncalled for. Instead, Forest took to social media to post a statement criticizing the officials’ work and highlighting the fact that the VAR was appointed by a supporter of Luton Town, one of their relegation rivals.
Clattenburg is a refereeing consultant for Forest and has criticized the lack of VAR assistance, saying the Nottingham team felt “victimized” after receiving multiple stunning calls.
“One of these errors would have been bad enough,” he told the Daily Mail. Three was a joke, which is why Nottingham Forest felt like victims following yet another loss in which none of their crucial choices proved to be correct.”
Stuart Atwell, the man behind VAR, chose not to send the on-field referee to the monitor for a second opinion, putting Young at the center of all the major decisions. Clattenburg asserted that the technology was established because of these minor decisions, but neglecting to use it was a significant mistake.
He stated: Attwell did not send Taylor to his monitor, despite the fact that these circumstances were the very reason why video technology was introduced into the Premier League. Not even once. For Forest, it was a hat-trick of howlers from the officiating crew and, regrettably, the continuation of an unfair pattern that has made their struggle for survival more difficult

Major backlash has been directed at Forest’s suggestion that the influence of a Luton fan was a factor. Gary Neville, who has been critical of the team, and Jamie Carragher have both said that Clattenburg should step down from his position at Forest.

“I would not have risked this situation if I were the head of the referees and all of this could have been avoided had the PGMOL simply made smarter appointments,” he stated. “While referees don’t intentionally make mistakes, it was astounding to observe this. Only he will know why Attwell chose not to send Taylor to his screen.”
