Mavericks’ Kyrie Irving answers to LeBron James saying he’s’mad’ they aren’t buddies.
Mavericks star Kyrie Irving responded to LeBron James’ statement that he is upset they are no longer teammates.
LeBron James recently confessed that he is “mad” since he is no longer partners with Kyrie Irving. Irving was asked about LeBron’s comments on Wednesday during NBA Finals Media Day, according to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.
“I mean, I have an excellent reaction. “It’s appreciated,” Irving stated. “A lot of thanks there as well. Obviously, I am at a different age and stage in my life. So is he. I believe we have both matured and come to appreciate what we have had the opportunity to do. I believe some factors hampered our relationship when I was younger.
“Now that I can express how I feel as a man… I believe our relationship has changed as a result of this. I definitely miss him… Man, when he says remarks like that, I remember us having those moments where we’re down in a series, up in a series, and we’re really demanding greatness.
For the time being, LeBron’s Los Angeles Lakers can only watch the NBA Finals between the Dallas Mavericks and the Boston Celtics. James revealed the information about Kyrie while appearing on his Mind the Game podcast.
“I’m… so f**king happy and so proud to watch him continue his growth and whatever the case may be,” stated James. “And at the same time, I’m so f**king mad at the same that I am not his running mate anymore.”

LeBron may miss playing with Kyrie, but the Mavs are thrilled to have him on the roster. Luka Doncic, Kyrie’s current star teammate, spoke about playing with Irving on Wednesday.
“Some things he’s done, I mean, especially in practice, it’s insane,” Doncic added. “The things he tries in the game are insane.” I’ve never seen anyone make those shots. I don’t see anyone trying those shots. Obviously, we know the handles. Just a few shots are wild. It’s incredible just to see this live.”
In the end, Kyrie Irving is always prepared for big moments, regardless of who his teammates are. However, having tremendous connection with a player like Luka Doncic helps matters significantly.
“I feel like I’ve been built for this moment because I’ve gone through some of the things I’ve gone through in my past with some of the guys that have transcended the game,” Irving said afterwards. “Shoutout to LeBron for that. Knows how to create a media storm and get everyone in here talking about us.
“Yeah, I’m looking forward to the future and getting this series started now.”
The Mavericks understand that facing the Celtics in the NBA Finals will be a challenge. Dallas recognizes that some may believe the Celtics are the favorites. However, the Mavericks team believes in their abilities.
Playing against his former team would most certainly provide Kyrie Irving with added drive. It would not be unexpected if Kyrie had a big series.
