It energizes you. According to Dak Prescott the Cowboys are under even greater pressure from two other clubs.
Even though the Dallas Cowboys haven’t taken home the NFC Championship in almost three decades, they remain a formidable team.
Strangely, the team’s only other Super Bowl berth came via a 38-27 victory over the Green Bay Packers in 1995.
The team has made multiple postseason appearances since then, but none of them have progressed past the Divisional Round. Dallas is coming off a dismal 2023 season, even though they had the MVP candidate and finest player in Dak Prescott throughout the regular season. The year 2024 will be all or nothing.
Generally speaking, Dallas teams are headed in a different direction than the Cowboys.
The Dallas Stars and Edmonton Oilers squared off in the NHL Western Final.
In 2023, the MLB’s Texas Rangers made a comeback to the World Series and captured their first-ever title. In the meantime, the Dallas Mavericks are participating in the NBA’s Western Conference Finals and have a chance to advance to the championship game later this month. Who is still alive? The Cowboys, who haven’t made their supporters happy in nearly thirty years.
There is pressure on Dak Prescott.
Speaking to the media after last Wednesday’s OTAs, Dak Prescott said that seeing all the Texas teams achieve great things makes the 2024 season more important.
Above all, they have more incentive to succeed because they are the “ugly duckling” among the state’s teams. The quarterback stated, “It’s not jealousy, but it fires you up,” in reference to the fact that both the Mavericks and the Stars are in the conference finals. For them, that’s what I desire. Go forth and triumph. The Rangers succeeded. Go ahead and do it, other two. Put us under even more freaking strain.
As the team captain, I think every contender should know what it means to win here. Watching your brothers across the city go and make these things happen while you fail to finish it. For them, that’s what I desire. I desire it since it will just make things more difficult for me and raise the stakes. Micah Parsons, CeeDee Lamb, and Prescott are all awaiting larger contracts.
