The Chicago Bears’ offense, led by Caleb Williams, is struggling in minicamp.
Fans of the Chicago Bears have a lot of hope right now. Leading the way is Caleb Williams, the first-overall pick, who leads a loaded offensive line that appears to have limited offensive upside after decades. However, the unit’s early minicamp results are not promising, as the defense dominates the offense in the last stages of the installation process leading up to the 2024 NFL Season.
Here are the thoughts of Bears beat reporter Nicholas Moreano regarding the unit during the first full-squad organized practice of the offseason.
Not that standout receivers Rome Odunze, a rookie, and experienced Keenan Allen, a veteran, didn’t practice. In addition, Darnell Wright and Nate Davis, two starting linemen, did not play.
The most worrying aspect, though, is that Caleb Williams’ main problem from his time as a USC student appears to have resurfaced. That would be clinging to the ball for too long, which, upon viewing his 2023 junior season tape, spread like wildfire. Williams successfully completed throws under Lincoln Riley’s system both at Oklahoma and USC early in his collegiate career. He regrettably deteriorated in that area the previous season, and the Bears will want to make amends.
Be easy on yourself, Bears supporters. It’s conceivable that Chicago’s offensive will be at its finest in a long time. The standard is still low, even though the team has never had a passer with 4,000 yards.
