Nottingham Forest fans have a “real opportunity” to take a stance against the Premier League during their clash with Everton on Sunday afternoon (21 April).

Fans of the Toffees and Forest could band together in a “huge” protest against their respective point deduction decisions, according to senior writer Pete O’Rourke. The matchup between the relegation-threatened teams at Goodison Park might have a significant impact on both teams’ Premier League standings.

This season, both clubs have suffered point deductions that have seriously jeopardized their chances of finishing in the Premier League.

Will Nottingham Forest oppose Everton in the Premier League?

However, a lot of people have criticized the clubs’ punishments, saying that the decisions made have been arbitrary or inconsistent. The team led by Sean Dyche has dropped a total of eight points after suffering big defeats in the three years leading up to the 2021–22 and 2022–23 seasons.

In the meantime, Forest lost four points last month (19 March) as a result of spending £34.5 million more than their permitted £61 million during the three years leading up to the previous season. The appeal against the verdict was promptly filed by Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, and the hearing is scheduled for April 22.
