Abdoulaye Doucore shares new Everton contract update after Goodison Park victory over Sheffield United.

Following Everton’s victory over Sheffield United at Goodison Park, Abdoulaye Doucore has shared a new contract update.

Everton 1-0 Sheffield United: Abdoulaye Doucoure heads Toffees to victory at Goodison Park... with Sean Dyche's resurgent side now unbeaten in their last five Premier League games | Daily Mail Online

The Mali international has been a fixture under Sean Dyche this season when healthy, but he has been linked with a January move away from Merseyside due to alleged interest from Saudi Pro League clubs.

For whatever reason, no such move occurred, much to the relief of most Toffees fans, and while the 31-year-old’s current contract ends at the end of next season, he has now stated that he may prolong his stay.

According to the Liverpool Echo (12 May), he stated, “From my perspective, I am quite happy. The club has the option to extend my contract for next season, so I’m not worried.

“I got a new contract last summer, so I don’t think my status is a priority right now. “I feel very secure here.”

Will Abdoulaye Doucoure depart Everton during the summer transfer window?

Everton supporters have had little to celebrate in recent years, with off-the-field concerns and relegation battles making it one of the most difficult eras in the club’s history.

But, throughout that time, Doucoure has given his best every time he has gone on the pitch in a Toffees shirt, and he has played an important role in keeping the Blues in the Premier League. Without him, Dyche’s team would be in the Championship.

It’s only logical that those performances would have piqued the interest of other teams across the world, but Everton seemed to have planned ahead and done everything they could to keep the Mali international for as long as possible.

Hopefully, they will be able to deter any interest that may come this summer and then trigger this extension clause as quickly as feasible. However, it would be surprising if that happened right away because Goodison has far more pressing issues to deal with first.

In other Everton news, the door may be open for the Toffees to sign Sammie Szmodics, who made a transfer admission.
