Albert Wilson announced his retirement from the NFL on Instagram on Friday, following seven seasons in the league. The former Georgia State standout went undrafted but played four seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs before signing a three-year contract with the Miami Dolphins.

“To the Miami Dolphins Organization, I want to thank you for changing my family’s life forever and giving me the opportunity to come play in my home state in front of family, friends, and the youth in my community,” Wilson stated in his press release. “This provided me a chance to be a leader in front of my community and a light to shine at dark times we all suffered.”

Wilson played 34 games with the Dolphins, hitting a career high with four touchdowns and averaging 15 yards per reception in 2018. He is a dangerous playmaker who tossed a 52-yard touchdown ball to Jakeem Grant against the Raiders.

He appeared in 89 games with the Chiefs and Dolphins, making 38 starts. He caught 218 catches for 2,499 yards and 12 touchdowns and averaged six yards per carry on 27 career attempts.

Wilson completed his three-year deal with the Dolphins in 2021 and joined the Minnesota Vikings on June 1, 2022. He spent time with the Las Vegas Raiders during the 2022 season but did not make a catch.

“To all my coaches and teammates throughout the years, I gained unforgettable bonds and everlasting friendships,” Wilson wrote in a letter. “Thank you guys for helping me become the man/athlete I am today.”
