Former Dolphins receiver has announced his retirement.

Knowing when it’s time to hang up the cleats is never easy, but it’s always preferable to do so sooner rather than later in order to spend more time with family, especially after signing that highly sought-for huge long-term contract.

One recent Miami Dolphins mainstay is doing just that, and he is retiring from football.

Former Dolphins WR Albert Wilson Announces Retirement | Yardbarker

While the Dolphins have spent the offseason seeking for an explosive third receiver, Albert Wilson, a familiar figure from the past who fits that role to a tee, has announced his retirement after eight years in the NFL.

Wilson last appeared in 2021 and played three seasons for the Dolphins after spending the first four years of his NFL career with the Chiefs.

Wilson departed Kansas City to accept a three-year, $24 million contract with the Dolphins in free agency prior to the 2018 season, and he finished his career with 2,499 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns.

Wilson has bounced around the practice squads of the Minnesota Vikings and the Las Vegas Raiders since his contract with the Dolphins expired.

Wilson thanked the Dolphins in an Instagram post, along with many other gratitudes to his other former teams, fans, and coaches, saying, “To the Miami Dolphins organization, I want to thank you for changing my family’s life forever and giving me the opportunity to come play in my home state in front of family, friends, and the youth in my community.”

Best wishes to Wilson on his new profession, which he admits he is looking forward to: being a stay-at-home dad.
