BBC: ‘I’m better’ – Sha’Carri Richardson sends defiant message to Julien Alfred ahead of Olympic rematch in Zurich

Sha’Carri Richardson has reactivated her famous mantra for motivation ahead of the epic Olympic rematch with Julien Alfred in Zurich, where she’ll be gunning for revenge against the St. Lucian new speed queen.

Richardson and Alfred last met in the 100m final at the Paris Olympics, where the St Lucian star sprinter powered her way to the history books in a new personal best of 10.71s ahead of the American.
Following the Olympic final, many thought Richardson wasn’t at her best after the mishap a few hours before her semifinal race, where she and the legendary Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce were denied entry into one of the stadium gates for not arriving with their country’s team bus, which could have taken a toll on her physically and mentally.

With the Paris Olympics ecstasy behind her, the reigning world 100m champion is aiming to make things right and prove that her loss was a one-off moment and she’s in better form for the Zurich Diamond League.

Richardson shared a video on her Instagram stories showing her new customized Nike spikes with her famous mantra: “I’m not back, I’m better.”

This was her groundbreaking slogan in her world-title-winning exceptional 2023 season that saw her reclaim her spot on top of women’s sprinting.

With Zurich in mind and rechanneling this as motivation, track fans can anticipate an exciting fast, competitive race between the world’s fastest women this year.
