Nuno Espirito Santo, the manager of Forest, stated, “It was a big step for us but it’s not over yet.” “We still have challenging games to play.”

Gonzalo Montiel’s sliding tackle on Ben Brereton Diaz inside the area in the 16th minute gave Sheffield the lead after the player entirely missed the ball. The subsequent penalty was converted by Brereton Diaz, who sent goalie Matz Sels the wrong way.

However, the visitors pulled even after just 11 minutes when Callum Hudson-Odoi, entering the box from the left, curled in a right-footed drive close to the far post after Danilo’s pass.

Late in the half, Wood headed a cross from Morgan Gibbs-White on the right from close range, but it struck the crossbar and denied Forest the lead.

After six minutes of play, they took the lead thanks to a goal from Willy Boly, who headed down an Anthony Elanga pass and set up an unguarded Ryan Yates, who scored his first-ever Premier League goal with his right foot.

“Yes, definitely a relief. We didn’t have a good start to the match, Yates said to Sky Sports. “We have developed that resilience since Nuno came in, and I think we grew into the game and scored in a few good moments.”

Near the hour mark, Hudson-Odoi struck the post, but two minutes later, he finished his brace by dodging Anel Ahmedhodzic and creating space close to the box’s edge to reach the target in the near bottom corner.

With the goal, Sheffield achieved an unpleasant first: they were the first team to give up 100 goals in 38 Premier League games this season. Swindon Town let up 100 goals in 42 games during the 1993–94 season as well.

Shortly before the finish of the game, Ahmedhodzic brought down Nicolas Dominguez while going for a header, and was sent off in stoppage time.

Next Saturday, Forest will host Chelsea, while Sheffield will travel to Everton. —Reuters
