AGT”'s Drake Milligan and “Cheer”'s Gabi Butler Find Each Other in Video for 'What I Couldn't Forget' (Exclusive)

Since playing the renowned Elvis Presley in the CMT series Sun Records, Drake Milligan has been dying to try other acting roles. However, he never imagined working with Cheer star Gabi Butler to flex that acting muscle.

In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Milligan, 25, states, “I had never met Gabi before.” There, we clicked, formed a new friendship, and had a great time. Gabi comes naturally. She really appeared to be able to really show off all the small emotions and seemed really at ease in front of the camera. She also looked fantastic on camera.

Along with that, the two produced a music video for Milligan’s brand-new single, “What I Couldn’t Forget.”

Regarding the music video, which was recorded over two days in Nashville and is currently making its premiere only on PEOPLE, Milligan says, “One of my favorite parts about this video is I got to have all my friends in there.” “In addition to Gabi, I brought in a friend from Texas who was engrossed in watching the movies. And everyone on my team—my social media team, my tour manager, my band, and his buddies who live in Nashville—came in, worked with my team, and we used them as extras in the film.

Available this Friday, Milligan’s new EP Jukebox Songs features this song.
Drake Milligan, the breakout star of “America’s Got Talent,” releases his debut album, “Dallas/Fort Worth.”

The friendship between Milligan and his bandmates was undoubtedly strengthened in April of last year when they were involved in a bus accident en route from Fort Worth to Georgetown, Texas. Their van was hit by a stray tire, which caused the vehicle to crash into the concrete median.

“Most of us were asleep when it happened,” says Milligan, who was struck by what he believes to be a microwave and had 11 staples placed in his head. “It was really rather scary. Making sure everyone was alright was my initial response. After realizing that my injuries were not too severe, I wanted to make sure that everyone was alright. And, fortunately, most of them were.”

However, the talented singer-songwriter can’t help but think about it.

After that, Milligan warns not to take any performance for granted because it might be her last. Judge Howie Mandel recently called Milligan “one of the most successful acts in America’s Got Talent history.” I no longer find it easy to sleep in the vehicle. I’m going to wake up if I do fall asleep and we hit a bump or whatever. However, I believe that it will get better again the more you do it. The most important lesson we acquired was that caution is never too much.

Although Milligan claims to be single at the moment, he admits that creating love songs frequently causes him to reflect on the past.

When writing this kind of material, Milligan adds, “you try to think on past relationships or maybe the kind of relationship you want to be in.” “The heartbreak stuff is also fairly simple.”
‘AGT’ Breakout Drake Given that he was the “one to beat,” Milligan acknowledges that he was “worried” about the last song.

However, for “What I Couldn’t Forget,” which Milligan co-wrote with Derek Bahr and Marv Green, it was more important than anything else that he was able to return to his creative self.

“I really wanted to go for that kind of mid-2000s sound of country music with this song,” adds Milligan, who will be touring with Cody Johnson later this year. ”

“I adore the catchy little tunes that captivate you, with lots of fiddles everywhere, and the early 2000s classic country music revival led by George Strait, Easton Corbin, and Billy Currington. On this one, we kind of tried to capture that vibe.
