Simone Biles became the third woman to win the women’s individual all-around twice, following Larisa Latynina in 1956 and 1960 and Věra Čáslavská in 1964 and 1968.

Biles began strong with a tremendous 15.766 on vault, but made a mistake on uneven bars, briefly putting her in second place behind Andrade. Biles then recovered on beam and delivered a dominant performance on the floor to earn her second all-around gold medal.

Andrade was solid in every event, with particularly high vault and floor scores propelling her to her second straight all-around Olympic silver medal, following her silver in Tokyo.

Lee, meantime, had acceptable vault and beam scores but put up monster routines on bars (leading the field with 14.866) and floor to win an Olympic all-around medal for the second time in a row. Lee, who battled renal difficulties in the time between games to compete in Paris, is the first former gold champion to return to the podium since Nadia Comaneci in 1980.

Biles, the 2016 all-around Olympic gold medalist, is the first woman to win non-consecutive Olympic gold medals in the event.
