Warriors utility linked with surprise switch for 2025 - NRL News - Zero Tackle

Dylan Walker is apparently looking for a new team ahead of the 2025 NRL season.

The New Zealand Warriors utility, who has primarily played lock forward in recent seasons but can also play halves, center, fullback, or even dummy half, has been an important part of Andrew Webster’s team since his arrival at the start of the 2023 season.

Walker, who helped the Warriors to a top four finish and a preliminary final last year, hasn’t been able to reach the same heights this year, with injury also impeding his efforts, and it now appears he may be on the move, with Wide World of Sports’ The Mole reporting he will leave the club at the end of the season.

Walker is currently under contract with the Warriors until the end of the 2025 season and would require a release to join a new club, which the Warriors may be prepared to provide considering the 29-year-old’s rumored salary of $700,000 per season.Warriors name unchanged lineup for Melbourne trip | RNZ News

According to the source, the Warriors are also likely to consider his release since he wants to return to Australia for personal reasons.

What is uncertain is which other clubs in the competition may be willing to pay that high price for him next year or offer him a longer contract.

The utility began his career in 2013 with the South Sydney Rabbitohs before moving to the Manly Sea Eagles in 2016.

With 224 NRL games under his belt, four Tests for Australia, and two Origins for New South Wales, he is quickly becoming one of the competition’s most experienced players, and if he does go on the market, lots of clubs will be interested.
