Alan Myers states that Everton is unlikely to back down from their second points deduction appeal until after Nottingham Forest’s own appeal has concluded. After reporting that the Toffees appeal is scheduled to be heard at the beginning of the final week of the season (week commencing 13 May), the Sky Sports journalist responded to a series of questions from fans via Twitter on April 29. He insisted that the result at Forest, which he said should come “any day now,” would likely be a “significant indicator” of what will happen at Goodison Park.

Myers added that it was “highly unlikely” that the second points deduction would be increased from two points by the appeals board, allaying supporters’ fears that the Premier League safety gained with the 1-0 victory over Brentford over the weekend might be in jeopardy.

Nottingham Forest was earlier docked four points for their own profit and sustainability infraction, subject to appeal, while Everton had their first deduction lowered from ten to six following an appeal argued by Laurence Rabinowitz.

It looks like Burnley, Forest, and Luton are now fighting it out to stay out of Sheffield United’s way in the Championship the following year.
