**Houthis Issue Dire Threat to Israeli Ports and Oil Fields, Threatening Major Maritime Disruptions**……

US targets Houthi funding network following attacks on commercial ships

The Hezbollah-affiliated daily Al-Akhbar in Lebanon has quoted sources from Sana’a, the capital of Yemen, indicating that the Houthis, who are backed by Iran, are getting ready to attack new, strategic targets in Israel and the surrounding area.

According to sources close to the Yemeni militia that Al-Akhbar cited, Houthi military leaders have added new items to their “target bank” in response to the Israeli retaliatory strike that took place on Saturday on the Houthi-controlled Hodeida port in western Yemen. The strike was in retaliation for a deadly Houthi drone attack on Tel Aviv.

The Iranian-backed paramilitary groups in Lebanon, Iraq, and Syria, along with other members of the Axis of Resistance, including the Yemeni rebel group, are reportedly plotting to attack not just the Red Sea port of Eilat but also the Israeli Mediterranean ports of Ashdod, Ashkelon, and Haifa.

The Houthis are reportedly pursuing oil tankers carrying petroleum from Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan to Israel via the Eastern Mediterranean, in addition to the Israeli gas reserves in the Mediterranean.

The rebel group is reportedly intending to deploy long-range projectiles to target “enemy marine traffic” that is headed toward the Cape of Good Hope along African shores. Additionally, the Houthis are reportedly aiming to target maritime trade in the Indian Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea.

Although the trip via the Suez Canal is much shorter, it has gained popularity after the Houthis started attacking ships passing through the Red Sea that they said had ties to Israel, the US, or the UK.
