Challenge at German MotoGP: Bastianini Foresees Marc Marquez as the One to Beat…..

German MotoGP: Bastianini “expects Marc Marquez to be the man to beat”

Enea Bastianini: “Marc Márquez has always been fast at Sachsenring, so I expect him to be the man to beat this weekend.”

Enea Bastianini ‘expects’ Marc Marquez to be the man to beat this weekend, despite the fact that he hasn’t won a MotoGP race since 2021. Marquez and Bastianini are competing for third in the world championship, behind Jorge Martin and Francesco Bagnaia.

Bastianini’s podium finishes in the last two rounds bring him to just six points behind Gresini, who will take over his factory Ducati seat in 2025. But, with Marquez unbeaten in a Sunday grand prix at the Sachsenring since the 125cc class in 2009 – despite missing the 2022 and 2023 GPs due to injuries – Bastianini expects a tough battle to take points from Marquez this weekend.

If we look at the statistics, Sachsenring is a track where Marc Márquez has always been fast, therefore I expect him to be the guy to beat this weekend,” said Bastianini, who finished seventh in the German MotoGP last season.

“In any case, I am confident: our core setup is functioning well practically everywhere, and we have come off two successful Grands Prix. I am confident that we can perform well in Germany as well. We’ll give it our all, as always!” Bagnaia narrowly lost to Jorge Martin in last year’s German Sprint and Grand Prix.

But if he can maintain his current winning streak, Bagnaia might reclaim the title lead heading into the summer break, with the Pramac rider now only 10 points ahead of the incumbent double champion.

“This weekend will be the last before the summer break, and I hope to close this first part of the season in the best possible way,” she stated. “We’ve had three very fantastic weekends, where we barely missed out on the Barcelona Sprint triumph and everything went perfectly in Holland.

Last year in Germany, Martín was good, but we were more competitive on Sunday. Now we must keep focused. We have the capacity to continue doing well, and if we work as hard as we have so far, I am confident we will be able to do so again this weekend.”
