Gatlin has stated how comparable the current American 4 by 100m relay team is to the legendary record-breaking Jamaican men’s relay teams lead by Usain Bolt.
American sprint legend Justin Gatlin has made a stark comparison between the current US women’s 4x100m relay squad and the dominant Jamaican relay teams led by Usain Bolt from 2008 to 2016.

Last year, the reigning world champions, the United States women’s relay team, won in Budapest. The squad, which includes Sha’Carri Richardson, Tamari Davis, Twanisha Terry, Tamara Clark, Melissa Jefferson, and Gabriele Thomas, is now a top contender for gold this year.

Several elements point to their possibility for victory, including close training ties among team members. Richardson trains alongside Terry and Jefferson, all of whom will run in the 100m at the 2016 Olympics and form part of the relay squad.
