An update on the ex-Raiders player’s jail term in a domestic abuse case
Due to a domestic abuse lawsuit, former Las Vegas Raiders linebacker Chandler Jones may be able to avoid going to jail. After the arrest, the Raiders released Jones in September.
According to documents from the Las Vegas Justice Court, on June 17, Jones was given a suspended 90-day jail sentence. If he remains out of trouble and doesn’t get in touch with his victim—aside from following Family Court rulings, that will help him to avoid going to jail. According to court documents, Jones entered a plea of no contest, which resulted in the discharge of one domestic abuse allegation.
According to court documents, Jones entered a nolo contendere plea, also known as a no contest plea, which led to the dismissal of one of his domestic abuse charges prior to being given the interim term. If Jones complies with the need to remain out of trouble through December 17, the second charge will be dropped.
Jones was charged in relation to his arrest that occurred in September. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, he disregarded his son’s mother’s temporary protection order. According to the police complaint, Jones stripped off and set fire to the items he had taken from her property, which included a dog toy, a recycling container, and a pool net.
Former Raiders linebacker Chandler Jones is losing prominence
After joining the NFL in 2012, Jones quickly made a name for himself as one of the best defenders in the group. Everything came together beautifully in 2019. In the end, he recorded 53 tackles, 19 sacks, and a league-high eight forced fumbles.
But an injury ended his 2020 campaign. Furthermore, he played in just five games. Even with 10.5 sacks in 2021, he was still one of the greatest pass rushers in the league. Prior to the 2021 season, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN ranked him as the fifth-best edge rusher.
Jones placed second in 2019 and third in 2017 for the AP defensive player of the year award, placing him among the top three. In 2022, Jones continued to produce well, totaling 10.5 sacks and 26 quarterback hits. He had 41 tackles as well, 12 of which were for losses.
In 2022, Jones made the decision to sign with the Raiders. “I thought, ‘okay, here’s an opportunity to play with a young superstar in Maxx Crosby,'” he said to @Schultz_Report. I believed that would be truly unique. I believe that playing with him would make it extremely tough for opponents to game plan against us since he is a transcendent young talent.
However, things with the Raiders didn’t work out. In 15 games, he only recorded 4.5 sacks and 15 quarterback hits. And until being released in 2023, he never made it to the field.
