The San Diego Padres defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 7-6 and 9-5 in the opening two games of a four-game series. Milwaukee wanted to win the next two games in order to tie the series. But the Padres had different ideas about capturing and retaining the second-place finish in the NL West division. After seven innings, San Diego led 6-0. The Brewers scored four runs in the top of the ninth, but it wasn’t enough as the Padres won 6-4.
