Pat Bonner discusses what about Saturday’s Celtic game at Hampden really “shocked” him.
At 13:40 on April 22, 2024, Patrick SinatThe Celtic supporters are still reeling from the exhilarating semi-final Scottish Cup match at Hampden on Saturday.
Now that we know we’re playing Rangers in the championship game, the build-up to the main event will be boiling beneath this weekend’s ongoing title run-in.
However, as the game analysis progresses this week, Pat Bonner made a point about the performance that will resonate with the Celtic fanbase and perhaps even with Brendan Rodgers.
The advantages of Celtic’s “poor” Hampden departure
In the post-match review, Pat Bonner expressed his disbelief at Celtic’s demise and mentioned two players that truly caught him off guard.
“I agree totally, I was shocked at some of the passing there was out there,” Bonner said on BBC Radio Scotland.
“Short, erroneous, and occasionally trips over the ball.” And that’s most likely a result of them not playing at their best during that particular portion of the game.
Additionally, Aberdeen aggressively closes them down and practically prevents them from passing the ball.
“You need to move the ball away with your body and possibly deter others.” I see O’Riley maybe trip over the ball, Yang trip over it, and so forth. And Celtic put on a terrible performance there.
