It’s going to be exciting”: Jannik Sinner emphasizes what Italy must accomplish to defend their Euro crown.

Jannik Sinner, the world number one, feels Italy has a chance to do well at the Euros in 2024. The multi-nation football event has already begun, with 24 European teams vying for the ultimate victory. Italy began the tournament as the defending champion, and they defeated England in the final on penalties.

Sinner, who is also from Italy, was recently featured in a piece. In it, he expressed confidence in the team’s chances at the mega-event, claiming that the current Italian squad is young and talented, and that they must start strong.

“It will be very interesting to see,” he said. “Italy has a rather young team. We made some changes, so it should be entertaining. I had the opportunity to observe some preparation, or practice bouts, in Miami. They played well, so maybe we’ll have a good start. I believe that is essential for confidence, so we’ll see. It’s going to be exciting.

Sinner is already recognized as one of the most highly rated men’s tennis singles players, with Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz. The San Candido native recently surpassed Serbia’s great tennis player Novak Djokovic to become the world number one in the men’s singles category.

The 37-year-old, who is widely regarded as the greatest player in men’s tennis history during the Open era, having won as many as 24 Grand Slam titles, lost the top rank after suffering through a dry spell in 2024 in which he has yet to compete in a final of any event.

Jannik Sinner takes over as world number one from Novak Djokovic. In his most recent participation at the French Open, the Belgrade native was forced to withdraw due to a knee injury suffered just before the quarterfinal against Norway’s Casper Ruud.

Sinner, on the other hand, competed in the French Open but was eliminated in the semifinals by Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz, who won a five-set thriller with scores of 6-3, 2-6, 5-7, 6-1, and 6-2. The recently minted world number one is now competing at the Halle Open, where he defeated Tallon Griekspoor of the Netherlands in the first round by a score of 6-7, 6-3, 6-2.
