Sunderland is interested in St Mirren’s boss as a new manager update emerges.
Sunderland are interested in making a surprise approach for St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson, according to The Sun.
Sunderland may pursue the Scottish Premiership player if they fail to sign top target Will Still from RC Lens. The Black Cats are still looking for a permanent successor for Michael Beale as they prepare to compete in the Championship for another year.
Robinson, 49, has led St Mirren to 34% of their games since joining in 2022. However, The Sun reports that he is being linked with a move to the Stadium of Light. Sunderland finished 16th in the table with 56 points in the previous season and are looking for a new manager.

Robinson played as a midfielder for Tottenham Hotspur, Leyton Orient, AFC Bournemouth, Preston North End, Luton Town, and Bristol City.
He retired in 2008, having made just under 450 games and seven caps for Northern Ireland.
The Lisburn native began his coaching career at Motherwell, where he worked under Ian Barraclough.
Robinson then worked for Northern Ireland before taking on his first coaching post with Oldham Athletic in 2016.
He returned to Scotland 12 months later, when Motherwell approached him, and spent three years in the dugout at Fir Park.
Morecambe enticed him back down the line in 2020, and he spent eight months with the Shrimps.
Robinson became St Mirren’s new head coach two years ago and has since done well with the Paisley club, leading them to fifth place in the league this season.
