- Report outlines Cowboys’ stance on Dak Prescott’s deal.
They are fully committed to re-signing Dak Prescott in the future. “They just haven’t shown it yet,”
owler explained. “I’m told that behind the scenes, they’ve made it clear that they don’t want him to become a free agent in 2025.” They want him to be the future quarterback, but the negotiations have been portrayed to me as passive. They’ll have to turn up the heat this summer, make a significant offer, and get the ball rolling. They’ve made it obvious they want to do so. They’re just playing it a little slower.”
It is unclear why the Cowboys are going so slowly with Prescott’s agreement, unless they are waiting for Trevor Lawrence or Tua Tagovailoa to set the market. Jerry Jones has even mentioned the prospect of Prescott departing, but he has not stated that he genuinely wants it to happen. Prescott’s current contract includes a cap hit of more than $55 million for 2024. It would be wise for the Cowboys to find something fresh before the season begins, for a variety of reasons.
