Robinson turns 25 at training camp. There is no guarantee he will make the Steelers’ 53-man roster to begin the season, but the fact that he has become one of the Steelers’ most trusted special teams players will aid his case.
Robinson scored nine rushing touchdowns in two collegiate seasons for Presbyterian and Southeast Missouri State before stepping on at Ole Miss and recording 92 tackles as a senior in the SEC.
The Steelers have occasionally deployed him in run-first scenarios. Despite being a high-energy tackler, Robinson is a problem in coverage. In 2023, Pro Football Focus ranked him 158th out of 164 qualifying off-ball linebackers in coverage.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, a Sutton contract may not cost as much as projected. He’s now due $13.6 million this season, and many expected a rise to put him over $20 million a year. Instead, he’s looking at between $15 and $16 million.
“The Denver Broncos have been speaking with Sutton and his representatives,” Fowler told ESPN. “There has been no significant development, so even though they hoped he would show up for OTAs, he may not be there. He is owed approximately $13.6 million in cash this year. He’d like to see it increase to around $15 or $16 million. Let’s see whether they can discover a sweet spot.”

Although Robinson was a full-time starter for the Steelers last season, the organization opted to remove him in March, which surprised the former Pro Bowl receiver. During an interview this week, Robinson stated that he was startled by the Steelers’ decision to dismiss him.
“I know for them, they were doing a lot of changes over there, schematic changes, and different things like that,” Robinson told the Giants’ official website. “So, that was rather surprising. But, at the end of the day, it’s all part of the business. I’ve been in this thing for 11 years.”
